This research aims to enhance the speaking skills of first-grade students at SMAIT Insan Madani 8 Tangerang by using role play activities. The research is motivated by preliminary findings which indicated that the students had weak English speaking skills, particularly in providing interpersonal responses. This research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) to address issues in students' English speaking skills. Based on the design by Kemmis and Taggart, the research was conducted over two cycles, each including stages of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. Data were collected through both qualitative and quantitative methods. Qualitative data were obtained by analyzing interview and observation results, while quantitative data were derived from students’ speaking scores on pre-tests and post-tests, as well as from questionnaires
